About Us
Joanna Merrett (Volunteer Co-ordinator), Mandy Budge (Education Development) and Jedi Larkai (Operations Ghana), Accra.
Origins
Teachers Beyond Borders has been developing a dialogue with teachers in Ghana and the UK since 2005. Sharing challenges of the classroom, TBB and local teachers devised a Literacy Training programme in 2006, funded by HarperCollins UK, in four schools. The programme, endorsed by the Ghana Education Service, worked to support national curriculum by developing strategies to help make teaching and learning more effective. This has led to building up resources in schools and in some cases small building projects to support educational initiatives.
TBB has small local teams, both in the UK and Ghana, which are crucial to the success of our projects. The UK team is managed by Fish Krish (Development Director) & Judy Lawson (Education Development Director) alongside Inclusive Education Consultant Claire Skinner. Joanna Merret co-ordinates our Volunteer programme. The Ghana team is managed by Mandy Budge (Development & Inclusive education Director) and our Operations Manager, Jedi Larkai.
All work undertaken is in full consultation with our local colleagues.
Where we are
Presently, TBB works between Ghana and the UK, developing a model which we hope will be available for schools in other parts of the world.
We are developing a community of teachers in Ghana and the UK to share ideas and best practice. In many cases there are close school links between the two countries so that children have the opportunity to work together and broaden their horizons.

why we're doing it
This work has grown out of years of experience as teachers. TBB is teacher led and we are dedicated to development education.
Through our links with partner schools in Ghana, teachers have asked for suppport and training. We believe that by sharing challenges and knowledge that all of our lives will be enriched and changed for the better.
